You don’t need to download WordPress, create a database by hand or wrestle with wp-config.php any more. Every Hostnasi hosting plan includes Softaculous, which sets up a complete WordPress install in a couple of minutes. Here’s how.
Open Softaculous
Log in to cPanel and scroll to the Software section. Click Softaculous Apps Installer (or WordPress Manager on some panels). WordPress usually sits front and centre — click it, then click Install Now.
Choose where it goes
- Protocol: pick
https://if your SSL is already active (it should be), and choosewwwor non-wwwto match how you want your site addressed. - Domain: select the domain or subdomain to install onto.
- In Directory: leave this blank to install at the root (yourdomain.com). Only put something here if you want WordPress in a subfolder like
/blog.
Set up your site and admin account
Give the site a name and tagline (you can change these later). Then, and this matters, choose a strong admin username that isn’t “admin”, set a long password, and enter a real email address — that’s where password resets and update notices go.
Pick sensible extras
Softaculous offers to install a theme and set up automated backups. We’d recommend enabling backups if the option is there. Leave the auto-upgrade settings on for minor releases so security patches apply themselves.
Finish and log in
Click Install. After a minute Softaculous shows two links: your site and your admin login (yourdomain.com/wp-admin). Log in with the credentials you just chose and you’re ready to build.
First things to do on a new install
Before anything else: go to Settings → Permalinks and choose Post name for clean, SEO-friendly URLs. Then delete the sample “Hello World” post and the default plugins you won’t use. Starting tidy saves headaches later.
If you’d rather we set up a hardened WordPress install for you with security and backups configured from day one, that’s something we do routinely — just open a ticket.
