A professional email address on your own domain — you@yourbusiness.com rather than a generic free address — builds trust instantly. Creating one in cPanel takes about two minutes. Here’s how.
Open Email Accounts
Log in to cPanel and, under the Email section, click Email Accounts. You’ll see any existing accounts listed. Click the Create button to add a new one.
Fill in the details
- Domain: if you host more than one domain, pick the right one from the dropdown.
- Username: the part before the @, such as
info, salesor your name. - Password: set a strong one, or use the generator. Weak mailbox passwords are a common way accounts get compromised and abused for spam, so don’t cut corners here.
- Storage Space: set a sensible quota. A few gigabytes suits most mailboxes; you can raise it later if needed.
Click Create and the mailbox is live immediately.
Accessing your new mailbox
You can check the account straight away via webmail at yourdomain.com/webmail — log in with the full email address and password. Webmail is handy for quick access from any browser without setting anything up.
Connecting it to your devices
To use the account in Outlook, on your phone or in another mail app, you’ll need the server settings. Back on the Email Accounts page, click Connect Devices next to your new address — cPanel shows the exact IMAP, POP3 and SMTP settings and even offers automatic configuration scripts for common clients. We recommend IMAP so your mail syncs across every device.
Set a sensible naming convention
If you’re creating several addresses for a team or business, decide on a pattern up front — firstname@, or role addresses like support@ and accounts@. Consistency looks more professional and is easier to manage as you grow.
Don’t forget deliverability
A brand-new mailbox sends and receives fine, but for your outgoing mail to reliably reach Gmail and Outlook inboxes, make sure your domain’s SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are set up — cPanel’s Email Deliverability page makes this a one-click check.
That’s all there is to it. Need help migrating existing mail into your new account, or setting up a whole team’s worth of addresses? Just open a ticket and we’ll help.
